 In the world of big ideas (not math or binary logic) the opposite of stupid is also stupid. Binarizng descriptions of social events (does/doesn't cause illness as opposed to a probability, cartoonification with party rather than individual identifications) can mitigate electronic media's tendency to polarize.

technical definition


Proper acceleration is the physical acceleration experienced by an object relative to a locally co-moving free-float frame. This may be quite different than the coordinate-acceleration seen in a separate reference frame (inertial or not) of co-moving yardsticks and synchronized clocks.
The proper-acceleration 3-vector, combined with a null time-component, yields the object's four-acceleration (as measured by the object itself) which makes proper-acceleration's magnitude Lorentz-invariant. Thus proper-acceleration comes in handy: (i) with accelerated coordinate systems, (ii) at relativistic speeds, and (iii) in curved spacetime.
Proper-acceleration reduces to coordinate-acceleration in an inertial coordinate system in flat spacetime (i.e. in the absence of gravity), provided the magnitude of the object's proper-velocity (momentum per unit mass) is much less than the speed of light c. Here we focus on situations where proper-acceleration and coordinate-acceleration are not always the same.

"One-new-fact" topics that we are interested in for discussion here might include e.g. traveler point dynamics (TPD), task layer multiplicity (TLM), moon baseball, single-slice electron optics (SSEO), dimensionless units rad/deg & mole, coldness in GB/nJ, concept-selection, organism-centricity, correlation-based complexity, carbon rain (in cool star atmospheres & the lab), and total-sound videography (TSV). 

For instance, a "new fact" for our TPD project may be that metric-first relativity opens the door to curved spacetime & accelerated frames in everyday life, for our TLM project it might be that activity time looking in/out from skin, family & culture can quantify community-level health, for our SSEO project might be that single-slice electron optics can give everyone a view of the nanoworld through "electron eyes", and for TSV that our real-time sheet music app offers up a visual guide to any sound that you encounter. N'est-ce pas?
